Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What is Fresco.Farm?

A community food marketplace that connects local producers directly with the people who eat their food — no middleman. You order fresh produce from real, named producers inside a community you join or create.

How do I join a community?

Open Communities, find yours, and tap Join. Communities are open — there's no approval wait and no distance check. You're a member the moment you join. You can also Start a Community yourself.

Is it free to use?

Yes — for consumers, Fresco.Farm is free to use: no subscription, no membership, no booking or service fee. You only ever pay the price the producer sets, plus 4% VAT, and there's never a separate platform charge on your bill. The platform's small commission is handled on the producer's side — and we do the price maths for them — so it's nothing you need to think about.

Ordering & paying

How do I place an order?

Browse the Marketplace, add items to your cart, and check out. Your cart can include items from several producers — we split it into one order per producer automatically.

What's the difference between "rolling" and "weekly" orders?

Rolling orders go straight to the producer when you pay. Weekly orders accumulate through the week and are confirmed together at a set cut-off — the classic veg-box rhythm. You'll see which mode a producer uses, and get a reminder before a weekly cut-off closes.

How do I pay? Is it secure?

By card, processed securely by Stripe. Fresco.Farm never sees or stores your card number. If you have running-tab credit with a producer, it's applied automatically — and if it covers the whole order, there's no card charge at all.

Can I cancel an order or get a refund?

You can cancel an order while it's still pending (before it's confirmed), at no cost. Fresh food is exempt from the 14-day right of withdrawal, but if something is wrong with your order you can raise a dispute in the app and an organiser will resolve it (refund, replacement, or rejected).

Pickup, weights & the running tab

Where do I pick up my order?

At the producer's stated pickup point and time (their farm, a market stall, a town square — whatever they use). Some producers also offer home delivery — you'll see the option at checkout if they do.

I got a bit less (or more) than I ordered — what happens?

Fresh produce is never exact. When you collect, the actual amount is recorded. If you got less, you're credited the difference; if you took more, it's added to your tab. These are never new card charges — they form a running balance with that producer that's applied to your next order.

Why am I blocked from ordering from a producer?

There's a limit on how much you can owe a single producer (€5 by default). If you're over it, settle up before placing a new order with them. Being owed money never blocks you — it just discounts your next order.

What does "you're the last one to pick up" mean?

If you're the last to collect from a cycle, we let you know there may be surplus you're welcome to take — but you're never obliged. Leftover surplus is offered to the whole community to claim, or written off by an organiser.

Costs

What do consumers pay?

The price the producer sets + 4% VAT (the Spanish reduced rate for food). There's never a separate platform fee on your bill, and any running-tab credit is applied automatically.

I'm a producer — what's the commission?

A per-order commission that gets cheaper as your community grows: 10% under €250/month of community sales, 8% from €250–€2,500, 6% above — with a €1 minimum per order. Better rates apply immediately; if sales dip, a 2-month grace period delays any increase. Stripe's card fees are covered by the platform, not you.

I'm a producer — how and when do I get paid?

Connect your bank via Stripe once. You're paid when you mark products delivered/ready (per cycle for weekly orders, per order for rolling). You receive what consumers paid, minus commission and any credit they applied. Your Earnings page shows every payout.

Weekly orders & the unexpected

A weekly order I placed got cancelled — why?

If a weekly cycle doesn't reach the producer's minimum order by the cut-off, the whole cycle is cancelled and everyone is refunded (first to running-tab credit, then by card where needed). You're never charged for a harvest that wasn't worth the trip.
